His funeral will take place at Peel Green Cemetery & Crematorium, 716 Liverpool Road, Manchester M30 7LW [Junction 11 off M60] at 1220pm on Friday 8th November 2019 and afterwards at The Swinging Bridge Hotel, 18-20 Trafford Boulevard, Manchester M41 7JE. Winter climbing meet (pending being logged as an official meet) to Cogne in the beautiful Gran Paradiso NP in Italian Alps. Ice climbing galore with options for cross country skiing, piste skiing, snow shoeing or otherwise. 4 of us are booked as following details but usual open invite, you can let me know you’re coming but sort your arrangements yourselves please. Carole Smithies writes: Sad to report that Alan Neale, who joined the Club 1957 left in 1993 and rejoined in 2009 died suddenly on 26th September. His funeral will take place at Cardross Cemetery and Crematorium, Cardross, Dumbarton G82 5HD at 1.15pm on Thursday 10th October 2019.  Please let ME know if you are attending [details in Handbook].

There will be Wednesday evening climbing meets as usual this winter season. As a change from last year, we’re having 2 week cycles with one week at Stockport, next week at MCC. Starting tomorrow at Stockport. Meet details will be up on the website soon. Cheers all.

Huge congratulations to Julie Finn who won the individual Equinox 24 ultra race over the weekend of 21/22 September. This was the first time a woman has won the overall solo category [with over 650 solo runners], she also ran further than any other woman has before with 190km…and all this when it was her ‘proper’ event since the birth of her daughter Evie just over a year ago! [A post on Ukrunchat provides further details.] Julie on the Equinox 24 Julie with Winners Trophy It has been quite a year for the Finn/Zeidan family as Mike completed the Ramsay Round in June in a time of 23:38…especially good since it was partly self-supported and, with a young child, he’d not had time to recce the route properly beforehand! This completes the trilogy of mountain rounds for Mike, with the Bob Graham in 2016 and Paddy Buckley in 2017. Mike on the Ramsay Round Well done both…even more so because I understand they are also in the middle of moving house…as if ultra running was not enough!
