Around Adventure” followed by Andy Connolly and his partner Sarah talking about
their cycle traverse of North and South America from Alaska to Patagonia.
All welcome.
Saturday daytime:
I am co-ordinating a Walk over Wetherlam, Swirl How and Coniston – weather
permitting - leaving the parking area at the start of the Walna Scar track above
Coniston [289970] at 10.30am. It would be helpful if those of us staying at the
Cumbria Grand arrange to car share…more on this on Friday evening, together with
any changes of plan brought about by the conditions.
Joe Fisher is co-ordinating a 2-3 hr fell run starting at 12MD from Torver, parking
on the road in front of the Wilson’s Arms.
Cec Rhodes is co-ordinating a 3-4hr cycle ride starting from the Cumbria Grand at
12MD. If you wish to go on a ride can you please contact Cec in the week before…his
details are as in the Handbook.
In addition, there are plenty of short walks from the Cumbria Grand, climbing on
the indoor wall in Kendal, or outside on crags [e.g. Trowbarrow] if the weather allows.
Saturday evening Annual Dinner and Lecture in the Ball Room:
6-6.45pm: Bar open
6.45-8.45pm: Annual Dinner
9-10pm: Guest Lecture “No easy way”, Mick Fowler
10pm: “Toasts”
Sunday
11am: Meet for a minute’s silence followed by a 6-9ml walk around Whitbarrow
Scar, the exact route/distance depending upon weather and members inclination!
Start location is the Car Park just beyond Raven’s Lodge Farm [462853]. Parking is
restricted here, so it may be necessary for some to park on the road about 200m from
the farm, but let’s be at the car park for 11 for the minute’s silence.
If you haven’t yet, get a room booked (bed-and-breakfast rate of £55 per person
