Associate Members’ Meet High Moss Rae Pritchard
Please come and join me for a weekend at our Lakeland Hut. This meet is specifically aimed at associate and new members who may not have experienced the Club’s great hut facilities. However it’s open to everyone - in fact the more members come and join in and meet new members to the Club the better. I will organize various walks from the hut dependent on weather and abilities. These are not compulsory; please feel free to do your own thing. A meal will be provided on Saturday evening. Please let me know by the Tuesday before. Contact: pritchard.rae@gmail.com.

Come and join us to experience some of the best fell running in the UK. Four of us (from Dark Peak Fell Runners) are joining forces to lead or suggest routes for the Saturday (6-7 hours at a VERY steady pace). We are no longer fast on the fells but we do love a big day out.
We will provide food (with Veggie option) on the Saturday night. Please contact me with any questions, bookings or dietary requirements.

Climbing in Josito, Turkey John WarburtonI’m hoping to get a team together in February 2023, staying at Josito climbing
base near Antalya. See www.josito climbing.de. It looks amazing, with great
accommodation and easy walking to a multitude of crags. We would fly
Manchester/Antalya for around £240. There are three in the team up to now. -

Bleaklow – the best hill in Derbyshire Andy Llewellyn
Meet at Old Glossop (GR 046947) for a walk of up to twenty miles visiting a
number of the stones on and around Bleaklow and the Outer Edges. Depart Glossop at
8.30.
The walk will be a slight variation on the previously undertaken Bleaklow stones
route taking in a couple of the infamous Bell’s Wells (if we can find them). In years
gone by there would be a minimum of twenty joining a Derbyshire walk, but numbers
have been steadily falling over the past decade or so. It would therefore be brilliant if
we can get at least twenty out on the day so please come along to join in the fun, be
it for the whole walk, or just part of it, as the planned route has many options to cut
a few miles along the way if so required. Or indeed just do your own thing but join us
for some liquid refreshments at the Queens Arms in Old Glossop where we should be
from about 4.30 onwards.
Come along and ‘get out there’ again -

Winter Climbing – Craigallan Kevin Wheeler
Join me for my annual winter meet at Craigallan from 24-26 February. Whether
you’re up for some exciting winter routes on the Ben or in Glencoe, or a just a plod
up a snowy Munro or Corbett, there’s always lots to interest and Fort William is close
if the weather really is too foul to go out! I’ll do a veggie (vegan) chilli on the
Saturday night with all the trimmings followed by crumble and custard. Come for the
food, the beer and the craic if nothing else. P.S. Bring your own beer! -

Wharfedale Wander, Yorkshire Dales Dave Woolley
It would be great if you can join me for a walk of about twenty miles starting from
Conistone in Wharfedale at 0830hours.
Park just west of the village, before the bridge. I intend to walk out to Malham
Tarn (avoiding the hotspots of the cove) and then head over to Arncliffe, on to
Kettlewell and return via the limestone pavements. After the walk I may organise a
meal in a local pub for those who let me know in advance (latest the Wednesday
before the meet). My details are in the handbook. Hope to see you there. -

otherwise feel free to do your own thing. I will cook a meal on the Saturday, including
a vegetarian option. If you have any additional dietary requirements, please ensure
you bring something with you as an alternative.
Please let me know if you wish to attend by the Wednesday before the meet.

Newlands Circuit staying at Birkness Hut (FRCC) in Buttermere – Third time lucky!
This was one of the first Meets to be cancelled due to Covid in 2020. I tried again
in 2021, still not possible, so I’m hoping that in 2023 it will go ahead successfully! I
have booked spaces in this hut https://www.frcc.co.uk/venues/birkness/ for the
Friday and Saturday nights to walk the Newlands Circuit on the Saturday.
This walk will start and finish at the hut, leaving at 8 a.m. to head up Robinson on
the steep path directly opposite the hut. From Robinson we’ll go to: Hindsgarth; Dale
Head; across to High Spy; Maiden Moor and Cat Bells dropping down NW into Little
Town. Then back up onto Causey Pike; Scar Crag; Sail; Eel Crag; Wandope; Whiteless
Pike and back down into Buttermere village. I hope most people will do the full circuit
but it is possible to cut the route short either by dropping down to Honister from Dale
Head or by stopping in Little Town, but you’d need to sort your own transport to get
back to the hut.
I’ll provide a meal for Saturday night. There are only limited places available – ten
male and seven female, so please book on early to make reserve your place. (With
bookings from 2020, female places are all already fully booked but I may be able to
get a few more if needed, so do let me know if you’d like me to try to book additional
female places.)

High Moss Meet Dave Atkinson
As a former Anabasis member, this will be my first visit to High Moss but I have
many happy memories of the location from several Anabasis meets based at Turner
Hall Farm. But we’re all Rucksackers now, eh? There’s little need for me to list the
attractions but I will establish my credentials by mentioning a few of them – walking
over the Coniston Fells, onto Harter Fell, and up charming little Caw, rock climbing at
nearby Wallowbarrow, with a hike over the hill to Dow Crag or - with a drive up the
Duddon Valley to Cockley Beck - Esk Buttress. And of course there’s the Newfield Inn,
and more, much more, but these are what I came to consider the Duddon delights. My
daughter Katie’s partner Adam tells me that the Duddon is a top kayaking river.
There might be something semi-organised for the food on Saturday night but I’ll
await suggestions about that before saying more.
Please let me know if you would like to book a place, eight of twenty-four beds
already gone (Murphies, Bartons, me plus three) so don’t delay (see the Handbook for
contact details).
