Yorkshire Dales/ Bowland Mike Gregg
Cave, bike, climb, run or walk. Based in Clapham, in a modern hut with central heating and log fire, (and a kindred club hut fee of £10 per night) on the edge of both the Dales and Bowland. I’ll have a couple of walks up my sleeve in case you can’t decide what to do. Let me know by close of play on Tuesday 31 January that you plan to come and I will provide you with a meal on Saturday night (with a vegetarian option).
Further details about the hut, including location, can be found at: https://www.yrc.org.uk/venues/lowstern/

High Moss Meet Dave Atkinson
As a former Anabasis member, this will be my first visit to High Moss but I have
many happy memories of the location from several Anabasis meets based at Turner
Hall Farm. But we’re all Rucksackers now, eh? There’s little need for me to list the
attractions but I will establish my credentials by mentioning a few of them – walking
over the Coniston Fells, onto Harter Fell, and up charming little Caw, rock climbing at
nearby Wallowbarrow, with a hike over the hill to Dow Crag or - with a drive up the
Duddon Valley to Cockley Beck - Esk Buttress. And of course there’s the Newfield Inn,
and more, much more, but these are what I came to consider the Duddon delights. My
daughter Katie’s partner Adam tells me that the Duddon is a top kayaking river.
There might be something semi-organised for the food on Saturday night but I’ll
await suggestions about that before saying more.
Please let me know if you would like to book a place, eight of twenty-four beds
already gone (Murphies, Bartons, me plus three) so don’t delay (see the Handbook for
contact details). -

Inverlael Easter Meet Ellie Howarth
Last few places available for four nights at Forest Way bunkhouse at Inverlael,
south of Ullapool. There are lots of Munros within reach if that is your thing, or else
road biking or mountain biking. The venue has two bunkrooms, both with bunks for
four and en suite facilities, at £72.50 for four nights. If you prefer more privacy than
normally available in a bunkhouse, now is your chance, as there is a separate room
with a double bed and a single, with its own facilities, which is £315 for the room for
four nights. Please consult their website for further info and photos Welcome to
Forest Way B&B and Bunkhouse. -

Cheshire Sandstone Climbing Dave Atkinson
The core activities for the day will be rock climbing on the sandstone crags and a
circular walk of about eight miles over the Frodsham and Helsby Hills. As we climbed
at Frodsham in July 2022, we will aim for Helsby this time and meet up at 12 noon to
give the sun time to get round to the rock, which could be a help this early in the
season. Helsby is just stuffed with classics – Eliminate One, Flake Crack, Wood’s
Climb, Grooved Slab, Golden Pillar, Pigeonhole Wall – do that lot on a single visit and
you’ll have earned a pint. The rendezvous point will be the Helsby Quarry car park,
which has no charge: Alvanley Road, Helsby WA6 9PU. The climbers may opt to drive
off a short distance to a spot more convenient for the crags and if need be, a
different climbing venue, but we can sort that out on the day. Afterwards, from 5.00
pm, we will gather at a nearby pub, the White Lion at Alvanley, WA6 9DD.
Please let me know if you think you’ll be coming along (see the Handbook for
contact details). -
