Longsleddale valley, just north of Kendal, gives secluded, less well-known access to the Kentmere Pike and Harter Fell area of the Southeastern Lakes, with up to six Wainwrights fairly close by. Rumour has it that keyboard wizard Vince Clarke from Depeche Mode and Yazoo once had a recording studio in the valley!
Meet: 9.30am in a lay-by on the A6, just outside Kendal (heading north) Grid Ref: SD 527 951. The lay-by is on the right, approximately 200 yards past the Kendal Camping and Caravan Club site.
We’ll then car share for the final few miles down the narrow, single-track road through Longsleddale to the tiny hamlet of Sadgill, where there is limited parking.
Our 16km (approx.) relaxed paced walk from Sadgill takes in Shipman Knotts, Kentmere Pike, Harter Fell, Tarn Crag and Grey Crag.
Please contact me if you’d like more details or are interested in joining the walk. I look forward to seeing you. Tel: 07584 933 844 email: david.nightingale321@gmail.com
