OK then... Come and join me for series 3, episode 2 of the Rucksack Club's
infamous High Camp, and, if you are deemed to have had the biggest mini-adventure
of all of the attendees, yours could be a starring role! This year I've selected Randygill
Top in the Howgills. Why, I just love the name! Coincidentally, whilst not being
desperately remote, it could provide a good stop-over in an altogether larger
endeavour if you fancy that sort of thing. Should the weather be against us, there is a
col just to the north – Leathgill Bridge – which could give some shelter whilst still
providing a ‘Camp’ which is ‘High’. It also provides a spring of beautifully clear water
– or it did on the recce in March anyway! Without doubt, the weather will be
somewhere between awesome and awful in which case the leader (co-ordinator) has
absolute say over which location is the Meet and which, really, just isn't. Bribes to the
usual address / un-named Swiss bank account.
