The bad news; Regretfully I have decided that the risks inherent in a group of us sharing eating, sleeping and breathing space in the limited confines of Beudy Mawr just cannot be justified with the current levels of Covid infection throughout the general population. In common with a lot of people, I too have friends and family who really need protecting. So the planned weekend has been cancelled.

The good news; Instead, I will be coordinating a walk on the Saturday. Parking in the layby on the A624 just below The Grouse Inn (Grid Ref SK 033 908) we will head over Mill Hill and circumnavigate Kinder in a clockwise direction, maybe getting as far as Madwoman’s Stones, maybe taking a short crossing earlier in the day depending on weather and inclination. Be ready for a 09:00 start and names in advance if you are intending to come along please. Contact as in the handbook.

It would be great if you can join me for a walk of about 20 miles starting from
    Conistone in Wharfedale at 0830hours.
Park just west of the village, before the bridge. I intend to walk out to Malham
Tarn (avoiding the hotspots of the cove) and then head over to Arncliffe, on to
Kettlewell and returning via the limestone pavements. After the walk I have organised
a meal in a local pub for those who let me know in advance (latest the Wednesday
before the meet). My details are in the handbook. Hope to see you there.

Join me at Craigallan at the height of the Scottish winter for a weekend of type 2*
fun in the snow. All activities welcome from climbing to walking. I shall provide a
warming veggie meal on the Saturday night. Let me know via email if you wish to
come, along with any dietary requirements.
*Type 2 fun is enjoyable in retrospect, but perhaps not at the time!

This will be a linear walk of approximately 27 miles starting from Disley railway
station at 8:40am. The route will take us through Lyme Park, via Kettleshulme, the
Goyt Valley, Macclesfield Forest, Gradbach and Axe Edge to Buxton. Take the train
    home from there!
If you require more information, just E-mail or ring me nearer the time.

This is a classic round of the quiet valley of Borrowdale, downstream of the A6. It
is about 20 km in length along undulating, mostly pathless, fells. If you haven’t seen
this side of the enlarged Lake District, this is your chance.
It is easy to reach from junction 38 (Brough) of the M6. Turn right up through
Tebay towards Kendal on the A685 and continue for 2.5 miles into the dip for
Borrowdale, turning right just over the river. There is parking at the start point of NY
606 015, which is 100m off the A685 up the small road leading up the Borrowdale
    valley.
    Meet at 9.30am.

This last weekend as I write (5/6 Dec) saw the first big falls of snow in the
Highlands. Dozens of climbers, including myself, were out in the Cairngorms to mark
the start of the winter climbing season in Scotland. More snow is predicted this week
and fingers crossed it will be another bumper season in Scotland.
So, why not make a note in your diary to join us on 26-27 February at Craigallan
for some winter frolics. The opportunities are endless: winter climbing in Stob Coire
nan Lochan, or on the Ben, or Aonach Mor, or a winter scramble up Schoolhouse Ridge,
or just a winter ascent of one of the many Munros and Corbetts in the area. A trip
across to the Cairngorms is also possible if conditions are better in the East.
And to top it all, who can resist my famous veggie chilli and crumble with custard
    on the Saturday evening?
    See you then.

I have ridden from the Trav’s twice a week for the last ten years so I really do
know all the best bits in the Hope Valley. Expect rocky, muddy and steep. In fact,
most of the trails might be better described as steep and rocky or steep and
muddy! I’ll take you on a selection of trails known locally as Black Rabbit, The Beast,
Steeper and Steeper, The Gift That Keeps On Giving, Stickman, Les Arcs, The Long
Way Down, Narnia and Hagg berms. Everything will be 100% rideable but the ups and
    the downs will be tough.
Given everything is up and down in the Hope Valley it is best to describe routes in
terms of the numbers of ups, and we will aim for five ups during the day (circa
1100m) which should get us to the Adventure Cafe in Hope for a late lunch. If people
are keen for more, we can add a couple of extras after lunch.
Meet at the Travellers Rest pub at Brough (S33 9HG) and be ready to leave the car
park at 9:30. We will choose the exact route on the day based on weather and what
people fancy. We will wait at the top and bottom of all the hills so don’t be put off by
the above, but it’s not a ride for beginners (unless they feel brave).

Plan to meet at Royal Hotel Hayfield 9am for a walk of approximately 15 to 20
miles, depending on conditions. Please let me know if you are coming. Hopefully
condition will be the same as in the pictures taken last year! Contact details as per handbook.

A646 (Hebden Bridge Rd) at 9am for a route taking in three Tod tops - approximately
16 miles. Please give me a ring beforehand if you are planning to come. Please see handbook for contact details.
