Users of High Moss

It has been brought to my attention recently that some Rucksack Club members who stayed at High Moss, didn’t leave the hut in an acceptably clean condition. Whether members are staying there as individuals, part of a personal group or on a Club meet, it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that the hut is left in a clean and tidy condition. The floors swept and/or vacuumed; kitchen items properly washed and put away; kitchen sinks properly cleaned; cooker hobs cleaned; work tops and tables wiped clean; toilets, basins and showers cubicles suitably cleaned; rubbish removed.

If there is more than one group at the hut at the same time, then there should be agreement between groups and individuals, to the cleaning of the hut to ensure that all jobs are tackled. There is no cleaner to go in and clean the hut it has been used.

It is always disappointing to hear from Club members that they arrived at the hut to find it insufficiently clean, but even more so when the hut has been left in that condition by our own Club members. The huts are a great asset to the Rucksack Club and should be treated with respect by ALL users, whether Club members, guests of members or external groups.

High Moss is popular with external clubs and groups. It is not a good look for the Rucksack Club if these groups arrive at the hut and find it unclean, which is what would have happened in this particular occasion if one of our members had not taken it upon themselves to clean up.

A polite request, that if you stay at High Moss then ensure that before you leave, that the hut is left as clean and tidy as you would like to find it when you arrive.
