Update on parking from Ray Glover 19/11/18: The designated parking by the church in Hope is quite limited, so we will start the walk from the pay and display car park which is along the man road about 150m to the west. Although the walk is not very long (about 12 miles) there will be 750m of ascent. Wednesday evening climbing: Awesome Walls, Stockport from 6pm. Weekend: Annual Dinner at the Queen Victoria, Llanberis. Friday evening: Nigel Dennis was the first person in the world to kayak around Cape Horn in December 1977. Since then, he has been involved with expeditions by kayak to South Georgia, Antarctica and Easter Island.He and Eila Wilkinson will present an illustrated talk of their experiences at 9 pm in the Gwynedd Lounge. Saturday: 10am start from the hotel. The plan is to visit Moel Cynghorian with, hopefully, views of Cloggy. Sunday: 10.30am start from the Hotel. A minutes silence will be taken at 11 am at Pentre Castell behind the hotel before moving on to explore the industrial history of Llanberis Slate quarries [bring a torch]. Note Car parking update 28/10/2018:suggested park on the showground car park (plenty of space) which is unfortunately £5.50 / day. The entrance is on the A6 900m SE of the roundabout in the centre of Bakewell. Meet at the first hardstand parking on the right by the first payment machine. Or park where you like and meet there anyway.   Wednesday evening climbing: Awesome Walls, Stockport from 6pm. Weekend: Two days from Hayfield. Andy Howie writes: Saturday: RC Navigational Challenge Starts & (hopefully) finishes at Bowden Bridge Car Park in Hayfield (GR SK 049 869) at the Junction between Kinder Road & Edale Road with interval starts from 9.30am. The course will be a series of Checkpoints around and about “Kinder” and her kindred fells. Maps, with Checkpoints marked and zip-seal plastic bags provided. The course will be 12 to 18+ miles depending on the participant route choices and how many checkpoints they visit. Those taking part can compete alone or with others as they wish, all will require appropriate kit[…]
