Two more bookings have been made following my update earlier today:- 24-26 May inclusive and 23-26 July inclusive. As mentioned earlier, there is currently a 72 hour ‘fa;;ow’ period either side of any booking where the hut is not available for use.

Under current Welsh Covid rules, only one household or an ‘extended’ household (two such households) can share self contained accommodation. On this basis, the hut has been booked by Members as follows:- Friday 30 April to Monday 3May inclusive. May 6 to 9 inclusive. May 13 to 15 inclusive. May 18 to 20 inclusive. June 4 to 6 inclusive. June 11 to 18 inclusive. July 30 to August 2 inclusive. Under current BMC guidance, we are leaving a ‘fallow’ period of at least 72 hours between bookings. Unlike holiday self contained accommodation, we are unable to go in and carry out a deep clean between bookings. We understand that the BMC are reviewing this to see if the interval can be reduced to 48 hours. The Welsh government review the rules on a regular basis. We will be keeping an eye on it and will let you know if there is any easing of the restrictions to allow more Members to use the hut.

So – are you all waiting until the 30th to send me pictures or have you done nothing up to now? There again, you probably have done that Instagram thing or tweeted or something ….

If you listen to ‘ I’m Sorry I haven’t A Clue’, you will know the ‘Late Arrivals’ section of the show. Some of our Members (some out of forgetfulness, others I suspect, being perverse) sent pictures in after I had gone to press. These can now be seen in the ‘March 2021’ Gallery.

I always aim to publish on the last day of the month but with only five pictures submitted (two of them by me!), it hardly seems worth it. I’m happy to extend the deadline for a couple of days in the hope that some people will want to share their safe and local exploits and travels over the last 4 weeks. There again, there might not be any! Just email them as an attachment and rename the picture so I know what it is, rather than a jumble of letters and numbers. Thanks.

I’m putting out a separate ‘March’ gallery for your pictures, to save having to go through all the earlier shots (although you can always do that by going into the ‘2021 – Year in pictures’ gallery). The plan will be to make a ‘Best of …’ gallery from the individual monthly galleries at the end of the year. ‘This time last year’ will operate as usual. So – send me your snaps! Please attach them as jpegs to an email – don’t embed them or use any fancy photographic app. My darkroom skills are stretched as it is! Thanks Bill

Whatever you are going to give up for Lent, do not let it be looking through your snaps for the February issue of the Club Gallery, which I will put out on Sunday the 28th. We have had some interesting changes in the weather over the last week or so and I will expect some surprises! The ‘This time last year’ segment is already looking good (you can’t have too many pictures of Cogne!) and I’m looking forward to reliving some ‘Sun Rock’ memories, as well as other shots of Club Members doing whatever they do. As always, please make the job a bit easier for me. The Gallery software and myself would appreciate it if you would ‘rename’ your pictures (keep it short and snappy (!) and send them as email attachments, preferably as a zip file. Thanks. PS I did say I would be choosing a ‘Goal of the Month’ but the quality of the January crop has made me realise that it would be unfair – they are all good! Keep them coming.
