The Gallery

As promised, the January segment of ‘2021 – The Year in Pictures’ has just been published (many thanks to Ian Helliwell for the technical bits!). Published alongside it, is a gallery called ‘This Time Last Year’ which contains a handful of shots taken in January in years gone by. Obviously, it is not restricted to last year, so start looking at your snaps from Januarys and Februarys past for me to include in this particular gallery. Also looking forward to seeing your exploits from this February in due course!

The Gallery

Following on from my previous post, the 2021 Year in Pictures Gallery will be published over this weekend. Some people have sent pictures from last year or even earlier. No problem at all – I’ve put them in the Gallery for you all to look at. However, it got me thinking – why not have a gallery for this kind of retrospective picture? So – I’ve made a new gallery called ‘This Time Last Year ….’ and, for next month, I’d like you to start looking at the pictures you have taken in February, in whatever year. This gallery will run in parallel to the main one and they will both will be published at the end of each month. Please remember to rename the pictures and send them as attachments. Thanks.

2021 – The Year in Pictures

I’m just putting the finishing touches to the ‘January’ pictures. Thanks to all those who have sent me their snaps. My ‘copy date’ for any other contributions for January is tomorrow, Friday 29th. A plea – before you send them to me, do 2 things:- 1. Rename them with your title/caption. That way, I don’t have to start reconciling a string of numbers that appear below the picture with a description provided in the email (or sometimes sent later): and 2. Send them as attachments to the email, and not in the body of the email. I don’t then have to ‘Save as’ and put them in an interim folder. I sound like I know what I’m doing, don’t I? But I’m still learning. Help me. Thanks Bill

2021 – the year in pictures

I’m putting the January gallery together this week and will aim to go public on the 31st. I’ve got some pictures but would like some more! I know you have all been observing the rules but a lot of people in the Club live in or near the hills and mountains and will have been out for their daily exercise. Please send them to me (billdeakin@yahoo.com) with a caption. Thank you.

2021 … A YEAR IN PICTURES

I’m setting up the Club Gallery ‘ 2021 – the year in pictures ‘. Send me your lockdown snaps. Thanks. I’m not a member of other Club Whatsapp/Twitter/Instagram/dodgy cycling/walking groups, so pass the message on. I’ll ‘upload’ at the end of the month and nominate the ‘Goal of the Month’ (no prizes other than the accolade). Thanks again.

Beudy Mawr – Covid 19 update

Steve and I want to open the toilet/shower block in time for the Bank Holiday weekend. We looked at how we could open the main part of the hut but decided it was not manageable under current Welsh Covid 19 rules. Opening the toilet/shower block means that Members could camp on the lawn and (depending on vehicle numbers) park their motorhomes. To remain within the rules, we reckon the lawn would take up to 4 tents (2/3 person type, with 1 in each corner), and 2- 3 motorhomes. The details need to be worked out, and there are a lot of issues, not least how to manage bookings fairly. Anyway, the question is – are Members interested in this proposal? If so, Steve and I will crack on with the details. Let us know as soon as possible.

Beudy Mawr Logbook 1961-1983

The Logbook has gone missing. The last time it was seen was last November when Eddie Birch returned it (after using it for some research work). Eddie brought it back to the hut during Chris Foster’s Mines meet. It was only when we needed the Logbook recently to look through it for material for Peter Roberts’ obituary when we couldn’t find it at the hut. If you have borrowed it, please get in touch with me. Thanks.

Quite a lot of rope for sale

Dave Williams is selling 200m of Beal 9.8mm dynamic rope on the reel. The rope is unused and has been kept in Dave’s loft in readiness for a project that didn’t get off the ground (sorry about that one). Dave is not willing to cut the rope. Might suit someone who could cut it into 4 x 50m or 5 x 40m for wall use (maybe Members involved in training, outdoor education or whatever its called these days). Contact Dave direct if interested. Details in the Handbook.
