The Rucksack Club 2022 Charity Calendar

To support the work of Climbers Against Cancer, Dominic and his team of helpers have produced another stupendous calendar for 2022, featuring Club members ‘Getting Out There’ ! All proceeds from the sale of these calendars will go to CAC to help fund cancer research throughout the world. Thanks to generous donations to cover production costs, every single penny will benefit CAC. They are on sale at several climbing walls at £10 each (£5 to students). I’ll also try and get to those walls who haven’t taken a batch to sell up to now, on the Wednesday evening meets. If you are unable to get to a wall, you can obtain one from me by simply transferring £11.35 to the Club Community Account (Barclays, sort code 20 55 41, account number 40599913, account name ‘The Rucksack Club Limited’). The extra £1.35 covers the cost of second class UK postage. As soon as I see a name and the funds in the account, I’ll get one to you. Sales over the Club Dinner last weekend resulted in £430, which is a very healthy start to the campaign! Lets see what we can do by the end of January – £2000, £3000[…]

Beudy bookings update

November is beginning to fill up, but there is plenty of availability towards the end of the month (from 22nd onwards). In December, the hut is fully booked for the weekends of 3-5 and 10-12, otherwise available. There is nothing formally organised over Christmas, so if you fancy spending Yuletide in the Welsh mountains, let me or Steve know. Think glorious days, perfect conditions, clear blue skies, log fires … OK then, log fires at least!

CAC/RC 2022 charity calendar

Dominic has been very active in producing the CAC/RC 2022 calendar, which the Club has generously supported. The cost is £10, of which every penny goes to CAC. They are available at the local climbing walls and I’ll be taking a supply up to the Dinner, but some people might not be able to make any of those. So – if you want one (or two , or three…) transfer £11.35, times however many, to the Club Community account (sort code 20 55 41, account number 40599913, Rucksack Club Ltd). I can’t help the £1.35 postage cost but you get a free envelope (to re-use) and the satisfaction of knowing that I have personally put the calendar inside it and taken it to the local post office for you. Might make a good Christmas present. Just saying. When I see the payment, I’ll put it/them in the post. It’s all for a good cause. Bill

Beudy bookings update

OK – the idea of mid-week bookings at Beudy might take some people a while to get their heads around. But – think about it – less crowded crags/hills, the ability (almost certainly) to have the hut to yourselves, easing all those Covid worries. Anyway, there isn’t much scope for that in November! After this weekend (5 spaces left), Andy Scott has booked all the available spaces from the 2nd to the 4th, then there’s Lewis Ashton’s Club Meet from the 5th to the 7th. Phil Sorrell has booked all spaces from the 9th to the 11th. The next weekend is free and then Joyce Dillon has booked 3 spaces for the 15th and 16th. Available again until Chris Foster’s Mines Meet on the 19th to the 21st. Then it’s all yours until the middle of December! Let me or Mr Gregory know if you want to go. Get in there!
