Joint Hogmanay meet with Peak Climbing Club

Joint Hogmanay meet with Peak Climbing Club, staying at our delightful RC Craigallan Hut just outside Ballachulish, West Highlands. Expect white stuff, wet stuff, cold stuff, warm fire, haggis, whisky and probably even some sherry too. I’ll cook a communal meal New Year’s Eve (vegan/veggie and maybe meat option too depending on numbers/ interest). Activities: do as you please/ what the weather dictates, certainly winter climbing aspirations, but hill bagging/ running/ swimming/biking etc. all welcome. Please let me know via email, or sms/whatsapp/signal (details in handbook), or FB event page. Already some early interest from PCC and RC members! any q’s, just shout! Chris Pembroke

Hogmanay meet, Craigallan

I always enjoy the metoffice’s long range forecast. With the UKs somewhat delicately balanced/variable weather systems, it often reads somewhat like a non committal horoscope, and tends to have a few bases covered….. But, two things from careful analysis of the long-range forecast give me hope for yet another splendid hogmanay trip: 1. The inclusion of the sentence “However, there are also some signs that more settled conditions are possible at times…… late in December or into early January” (#optimism) AND 2. After careful analysis of the forecast, midges are still very unlikely. Still a few spaces at present if anyone wishes to join! Nominally december 28th to 5th Jan but shorter stays also ok (and maybe a few keen’uns heading up a day or so earlier). Full details previously posted here, on Facebook event, or contact Chris  Pembroke by email/phone

Craigallan lost property….

Hi all, if anyone is going up to craigallan in the near future and would be able to collect and bring back a camping mat left behind by someone in our team from a recent visit please, it would be much appreciated! I’m Sheffield based, but can arrange to collect from elsewhere in/near the peak, or happy to arrange/pay for postage, and a donation to Mountain Rescue! Many thanks in advance, Chris Pembroke

Craigallan Hogmanay Meet

Hi All I’m planning to head up to Craigallan over new year’s, likely ca. 28th Dec to 2nd Jan or thereabouts, for some kind of Scottish mountain based Hogmanay fun; weather, conditions and psyche will determine exactly what. All welcome, for whatever activities desired, and if it’s more than just me I’ll cook up a haggis dinner (or even if it is just me!😅) Would be keen/happy to share lifts etc. Please let me know if you fancy joining- so I can confirm with John (otherwise he will make the hut available for other use). Post on here, message me direct, email and mobile details in the handbook, or send a pigeon if you’d rather! Chris P
