Craigallan 25th (+ 2) Year Celebrations & President's Meet

Since the last edition of Meetstaff, there has been significant interest in our Celebration of the opening of Craigallan and the President’s meet which follow immediately afterwards. At the time of writing 25 people are booked to attend all or part of the event. The hut is almost full for the first part of the week but beds are available from the night of Thursday 2nd of June onwards, as although all campervan places are booked there is space for tents in the garden. Anyone staying elsewhere is, of course, welcome to use the hut throughout the day during the week and to join in any of the three communal meals (Saturday 28th May, Wednesday 1st June and Saturday 4th June). We will send another update to show who is attending to all those involved in early April. By then we hope to be able to confirm a venue for the sit down meal on Wednesday 1st June.
The long bank holiday weekend at the end of the event may appeal to those who can not manage the full week so remember there is space in the hut from the Thursday night. Those intending to book other accommodation locally, including campsites, should do soon as it is a busy time of year. Please let John know if you are staying elsewhere and to book a place at any of the three meals offered.

Pub: Ladybower Inn (Happy Hour)
Maps: Dark Peak E
Route: Follow Derwent river to Shepherds Meeting Stones. Featherbed Moss 142986. Watershed E to Cat Cloughs Head. Outer Edge 541m, Margery Hill 546. Cut Gate track, Slippery Stones. Note: the middle section of this walk is a dreary plod along the watershed. Devise a more scenic route, anyone?
NB:An alternative would be to continue up River Derwent, onto Bleaklow Stones then back by PW, Hern Clough, Alport Castle and Ditch Clough

Duddon Circular Backpacking

A walk and wild camp/bivi along the Duddon watershed starting at Silecroft station at 11.51am on Thursday 2nd June and finishing at Foxfield station on Saturday 4th June. It’s around 40 miles in length or you could just join for part.
I plan to camp between Green Crag and The Pike on Thursday after 15 miles and 1200m ascent and at Pikes on Caw on Friday after a further 15miles and 1500m, assuming that campsite water sources are still running by June.The route is broadly Black Combe, Whitfell, ‘Woodend Height’, Green Crag, Harterfell, Hardknott, Adam-a-Cove, Cold Pike, SWirl How, Dow Crag, White Pike, Caw, Great Stickle. Let me know if you want more details oft he route or further information. (I expect to be in Scotland from 3-27 May).
