Mountains of the Mind…climbing psychology Webinar. Tuesday 23rd November…not to be missed!

Read any book or article about climbing technique and you’ll see something about throwing yourself off in order to overcome a fear of falling. But why is climbing one of the few sports to advocate the practise of failure? What, if any, is the science behind this approach – how is it supposed to work? And what if you’ve tried that and actually found your fear getting worse?

In this talk Rebecca will unpack some of the reasons why we fear falling, how falling practice is supposed to work and the many reasons it can actually make things worse. Expect to come away with some practical tips on how to manage anxiety in the mountains!

Rebecca Williams is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a Performance Psychology Coach, who specialises in helping climbers improve their performance through learning evidence based techniques to manage fear and develop confidence. She’s been working with climbers of all ages, abilities and disciplines for the last 15 years, and is very well placed to give a brilliant talk! Don’t miss it!
