Hill walking and mental health day: Hathersage, Monday 13 June 2022

In recent years, much has been written about “Green Care” and the role that our natural surroundings play in treating a range of different health conditions. This “Hill Walking and Mental Health Day” is aimed at anyone who’s keen to find out more about how one of our most popular forms of exercise can help those with mental health issues. Through a series of short talks, workshops and a walk in the Peak District we’ll hear about what’s taking place in the UK today. The day will finish with a talk from the author and mental health campaigner Jake Tyler who’ll describe how walking more than 3000 miles around the UK lifted him out of a life threatening episode of depression. This will be an excellent day for anyone interested in mental health issues and, whilst organised by the British Mountain Medicine Society, it is most definitely aimed at anyone interested in the outdoors not just those with a medical science background.
