WARBYS YORKSHIRE TREAT ALMSCLIFFE/ROBIN PROCTOR SCAR 29TH/30TH MAY

I ve not been to Almscliffe but it has a reputation as being a place to “sort the men from the boys “Gods own rock” as they say in Yorkshire. Treading in the footsteps of the Yorkshire greats ,DOLPHIN ,AUSTIN, SYRETT, LIVESEY, FAWCETT.The routes take no prisoners so bring plenty of cams and get your arms pumped ready. The crag faces different ways so should get the sun depending on where you climb.UKC has all the info you need. ROBIN PROCTOR SCAR above AUSTWICK is in a beautiful setting on the moor above the village with trad and sport routes to provide a variety of challenging routes on mountain limestone.I hope to get to both venues around midday and then choose a suitable pub for an evening drink again UKC has the info.Free pints to anyone who onsights WALL OF HORRORS at ALMSCCLIFFE

PierrePierre St. Martin 2021 expedition.

Just a heads up for all would be Rucksack cavers.Because of the success of the 2019 Berger Expedition, some of the original team are looking at another mammoth trip next summer “UP or should it be DOWN” the classic world caving trips. The PSM as its known lies close to the French/Spanish Pyrenees town of Bayonne on the western coast of France. Heralded as The deepest world cave for many years until the Berger was bottomed in the late 1950’s it attracts teams from all over the globe because of its ease of access and the mammoth SALLE VERNA cavern bigger than Wembley stadium.A man made tunnel takes tourists into Salle Verna but for the proper cavers unlike the Berger there a different entrances and through trips to accommodate all levels of experience.Obviously its early days and plenty of planning to do,but it would be great to have strong Rucksack club presence this time along with the other clubs involved.John Warby.

2021 Pierre St Martin Exped.

Just a heads up for all Rucksack would be cavers. After the success of our 2019 Berger Trip some of the team have shown interest in the” next step up or should it be DOWN the ladder”in classic caving trips. The PSM as its known held the worlds deepest cave title until the Gouffre Berger was bottomed in the late 1950’s.Located almost on the French/Spanish border in the Western Pyrenees near to Bayonne on the West coast of France the PSM contains some of the biggest caverns in Europe, the Salle Verna being bigger than Wembley Arena.Unlike the Berger there are various through trips from different entrances and even a man made walk in entrance tunnel which is used for tourists to access Salle Verna.Early days and lots of planning yet, but it would be great to have a strong Rucksack presence along with all the other clubs to make up the team.
