Skiddaw House Meet 13-15 February 2019

13th-15thFebruary 2019 Skiddaw House Betty Hamer I am now taking bookings for the meet at Skiddaw House in Feb.2019. As detailed in last meetstaff this meet is now midweek for the nights of Wed 13thFebruary and Thursday 14thFebruary. Skiddaw House is in a fantastic setting, remote and surrounded by the higher hills of the northern fells. It sits at 470m above sea level and is approx. 3-4 miles from the road. Access and parking are available at Threlkeld, Latrigg, Mosedale or to the north at Peterhouse Farm near Bassenthwaite. There are washrooms and showers, a large kitchen area with hobs, a very comfortable lounge and drying areas. The kitchen and lounge have stoves and there are even hot water bottles in the bunk rooms! There is no need to carry in all your food as they keep a well-stocked shop where it is possible to buy food for your evening meal and breakfasts. Greenfield to Macclesfield

Saturday 20th October – save the date! The re-introduction of a fine Western Moorland traverse first reported in the club journals in April 1951. From Greenfield the route heads up the Chew Valley to meet the Pennine Way at Laddow Rocks which it follows over Bleaklow, Snake Summit and Mill Hill before heading down William Clough to Tunstead. It continues on to Coombs Reservoir via Chinley Churn and Eccles Pike before heading across to Bollington and onwards to arrive at a well earned pint in Macclesfield. More details to follow shortly including train times, waypoints, rendezvous points and refreshment stops! Andy Towne 07979 05644 andytowne@me.com
