I have booked myself in fine park from 15th-24th March if anyone wants to share accommodation let me know,i will be flying from Manchester to Alicante on Sunday 15th March and then hiring a car. John

Friday 31st January 1st February. Club booking number to be confirmed. Friday 6th March Saturday 7th March. Club booking expected to be about twelve people. Friday 14th March Saturday 14th March New members meet. Friday 20th March Saturday 21st March Rucksack Meet. Rae and Helen. Friday 17th April Saturday 18th April Rucksack Committee at High Moss. Sunday 19th April to Friday 24th. F.R.C.C. full hut.

All places have now been booked for this meet. I have booked spaces in this hut https://www.frcc.co.uk/venues/birkness/ for the nights of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March 2020 to walk the Newlands Circuit on the Saturday. Leaving the hut at 8.00am, this walk will start and finish at the hut. We will be heading up Robinson straight up the path across the road behind the hut. From Robinson we’ll go to: Hindsgarth; Dale Head; across to High Spy; Maiden Moor and Cat Bells dropping down NW into Little Town. Then we go back up onto Causey Pike; Scar Crag; Sail; Eel Crag; Wandope; Whiteless Pike and back down into Buttermere village and then along the road a short distance back to the hut. I hope most people will do the full circuit which is about 23 miles but it is possible to cut the route short either by dropping down to Honister from Dale Head or by stopping in Little Town, but you’d need to sort your own transport to get back to the hut. Carole Smithies writes: Very sad to report that our Honorary Member Peter Roberts died on 31st December 2019.  Peter was a member of the Club for over 50 years and he was warden of Beudy Mawr from 1972 to 1994. I now have the full details of Peter Roberts’ funeral and memorial get-together.  His funeral will take place at Peel Green Cemetery & Crematorium, 716 Liverpool Road, Manchester M30 7LW [Junction 11 off M60] next Friday, 17 January, at 2 20pm.  Afterwards, since there are no family arrangements, we plan to meet at the Swinging Bridge Hotel, 18-20 Trafford Boulevard, Manchester M41 7JE together with members of Peter’s other Club, Tyn Llwyn Isaf.  The hotel is a short drive from the crematorium, click here to see attached map, and close to where Peter worked at Trafford Park.  We will be able to drink to Peter’s memory there and if needs be, purchase a bite to eat before travelling home. The solicitors who are arranging the funeral, have asked me to let them know how many people will be there.  So please, if you haven’t already done so, let Carole know if you will be at the funeral and/or the get-together.[…]

I’ve just acquired an old Garmin Dakota 20 gps unit. I’ve no real idea how to use it. Has anyone any advice, eg, websites for instructions, map downloads (preferably free!). Thanks

Happy New Year! Here’s the situation for the first three months of 2020. Bedford MC have booked 10 spaces for this coming weekend (11th/12th) and Granville Toyn has booked 2 places from this Friday (10th) until the following Saturday (18th). Gareth Llewellyn has his Club meet on the weekend of 25th/26th – contact Gareth for details. There are no other bookings in January, February or March.
