Knoydart meet 11th-14th October 2019

Next year’s island meet will not quite be on an island, but almost. I’m booking the Knoydart Foundation Bunkhouse at Inverie for 3 nights. It holds 26 and at the moment I have 18 ‘on board’. We get there by ferry from Mallaig which has a number of sailings each day to and from Inverie. If there are 8 more interested in joining the trip I can book the whole bunkhouse which would be at a cost of £15.50 per night each. So if you would like to come along (and perhaps bag those 3 remote Munros) please let me know asap on email: andy.lou64@virginmedia.com Thanks Andy

SunRock 2019 heading to Leonidio, Greece – UPDATE

Here’s a bit of an update on the 2019 sunrock meet… So far there are twenty of us confirmed as going, with a few more maybes. Still plenty of time to get yourself a bit of the Leonidio action… The originally planned week of 16 to 24 February seems to be stretching into a fortnight, with various teams booking later flights (somewhat more cheaply) – there will be sunrocking Rucksackers in situ from 16th Feb until 1st March. The “basecamp” accommodation at Camping Semeli is pretty much full, although a couple of the apartments could maybe squeeze in an extra one or two (get in touch with me and I’ll point you in the right direction). However, there are plenty of other options: The latest team to book have found overflow accommodation next door: website is sirines-Leonidio.gr and the contact is George…email gtsouka@yahoo.com. Also, Robin Illingworth has just returned from a trip and kindly reccied another alternative in Plaka: Simona who runs the bakery has some apartments in plaka which are available in Feb. simona.tuca@gmail.com Finally, there’s a new Guidebook that has just been published in the last week or so (available locally – might make it to shops in[…]

Meet Programme May 2018 – April 2019

I am in course of pulling together the next meets programme and would be delighted to hear from anybody who would like to coordinate a meet for the Club. Good progress has been made to almost complete 2019 so ideas for winter and spring meets in 2020 would be most welcome. Hut meets, walking meets, winter mountaineering meets ….whatever you fancy …. Please contact me on: andy.lou64@virginmedia.com I look forwards to hearing from you. Thanks Andy
